Spin-OffsTo date, Pervasive Technology Labs and its personnel have created five companies. These companies are actively engaged in transferring technology developed in the Labs, and in creating new, novel technologies that will contribute to economic development in Indiana. Companies associated with the Open Systems LabWhite River Labs, LLC (founded 2007)White River Labs was founded by Christopher Mueller and Andrew Lumsdaine to provide high-productivity software tools and services to support the next generation of multi-core and accelerator-based computing architectures. White River Labs specializes in providing hardware-optimized Python and C++ libraries for scientific, engineering, financial, and analytical applications. Companies associated with the Advanced Network Management LabSGC Technologies LLC (established in 2004)SGC Technologies LLC plans to produce and sell software for that will enable the convenient, secure exchange of confidential patient information and proprietary business transactions. In the future, SGC Technologies plans to market other new technologies developed by the Advanced Network Management Lab (ANML). SGC Technologies' initial product, Slashtmp, allows users to exchange large files in a simple and secure manner using a simple web-based application. The original code for Slashtmp was developed in the ANML and is licensed to SGC Technologies LLC via contract with the IU Research and Technology Corporation. To date, SGC Technologies LLC has received a total of $100,000 in external funding, all equity seed funding from the Pervasive Technology Labs Capital Seed Fund. SGC Technologies LLC is located in the InVenture Business Incubator [http://www.inventuretech.com/], at the Indiana University Research Park. Companies associated with the Communit y Grids LabAnabas, Inc. (incorporated in 2000)Anabas, Inc. is currently developing the next generation of online distance learning solutions that will enable organizations to create, manage, and deliver educational content over the Internet. Anabas' solutions allow organizations to drastically reduce educational costs while increasing their effectiveness. Anabas' software products are based on open source software developed by the Community Grids Lab and combine the latest multimedia, communication, and collaboration technologies to create solutions that can deliver both instructor-led and self-paced instructional content anytime and anywhere. Anabas is investigating other possible application areas for its technologies, including e-sports, e-entertainment, e-apparel, and digital asset management. In the future, Anabas, plans to continue developing and marketing technologies developed in the Community Grids Lab. To date, Anabas, Inc. has received a total of $500,000 in external funding, including $400,000 in equity seed funding from the Pervasive Technology Labs Capital Seed Fund and $100,000 from a US Air Force Small Business Innovation Grant. Anabas, Inc. is located in the InVenture Business Incubator [http://www.inventuretech.com/], at the Indiana University Research Park. Companies associated with the Visualization and Interactive Spaces LabEnVizable, LLC (established in 2005)EnVizable LLC plans to market integrated software and hardware solutions to support collaboration and educational act ivities. A hallmark of the products being developed by EnVizable is their novel and highly intuitive interfaces. Rather than making the user adapt to the design of a computer system, EnVizable makes computer systems that are adapted to the natural and intuitive ways in which children and adults prefer to interact with their environment. The initial target markets for EnVizable products are museums and trade shows. Companies associated with the Scientific Data Analysis LabAcquired Science LLC (established in 2005)Acquired Science is a consulting and software development firm established by Scientific Data Analysis staff members. Thus far, Acquired Science LLC has proceeded without funding from the Pervasive Technology Labs Capital Seed Fund. Acquired Science LLC has secured a contract to develop software for the Air Force Research Lab in Dayton, OH. |
