June 26th, 2008 — Summer Technology Workshop at the Advanced Network Management Lab

An event for Indiana high-school students to become better aquainted with various technologies.

August 9, 2007 — "Test Your Password Strength" Display at the Indiana State Fair

PTL staff use a hands-on game developed by the Advanced Network Management Lab to teach fair-goers how to choose a secure pass-phrase for their online accounts.

June 28, 2007 — Summer Technology Workshop at the Advanced Network Management Lab, Bloomington Indiana

Hands-on workshop for Indiana high-school students who are considering careers in computer programming, networking or technology.

June 14, 2007 — 2007 School of Informatics Summer Camp

IT professionals from the Advanced Network Management Lab conduct a hands-on network security simulation exercise for campers at the 2007 School of Informatics Summer Camp. The Community Outreach Program is a proud sponsor of two student "Camper-ships" for the week-long event.

August 10, 2006 — Indy Robotics Vehicle (IRV) Demo and Photos at the Indiana State Fair

Researchers from the Advanced Network Management Lab talk with State Fair visitors about the IRV. Visitors of the demo receive a souvenir photo of themselves with the vehicle courtesy of Pervasive Technology Labs and University Information Technology Services.

August 10, 2006 — Online “Safe and Sensible” Presentation at the Indiana State Fair

PTL volunteers educate kids families on what it means to be both safe and sensible online. The program, developed by the Advanced Network Management Lab encourages kids to “think before they post” to online social networking websites and blogs because information put on the internet can not ever be “erased”. Fair visitors receive a free magnet with tips for both parents and children on ways to be safe and sensible online courtesy of the Pervasive Technology Labs.

September 26, 2006 — “Networking and Technology Careers” and “Online Safe and Sensible” Talks at the Margaret Cooper Public Library, Linton, Indiana

PTL Assistant Director, Gregory Travis talks to teens about careers in computer networking and security, and the education required to pursue such careers. Talk is followed by a presentation for teens and parents about safe and sensible online behavior.

October 18, 2006 — “Squeak” Science Education Class at the Girl Scouts Math and Science Center, Indianapolis, Indiana

Associate Director, Randy Heiland of the Scientific Data Analysis Lab leads a class on “Squeak”, an open-source software application for math and science education.

November 7, 2006 — Networking and Technology Careers Talk at Center Grove High School, Greenwood, Indiana

Talk by Gregory Travis of the Advanced Network Management Lab.

December 5, 2006 — Research Science and Technology Careers Talk, Center Grove High School, Greenwood, Indiana

PTL COO, Craig Stewart along with Scientists from the Open Systems Lab, Community Grids Lab and Advanced Network Management Lab serve as judges for the Saint Susanna School annual science fair, Plainfield, Indiana.
