Resources for Parents
- Place the family computer in the most public room of your home.
- Establish ground rules for your family's internet usage.

Surf the internet with your kids. Encourage them to share what they
see and do online with you.

Some people don't tell the truth online. Tell children what they see
may not be what they get.

Know exactly how parental controls work and what they can and
cannot do.

Don't be a phishing scam victim. Reputable businesses will
never ask for personal data or account numbers via email.
Resources for Kids

Never give out personal information to online friends— and
always use an alias.

Personal information includes your name, messenger ID, email address, school name, phone numbers, home address and pictures of you, your
family, or friends.

If you publish a photo of video online, be aware that anyone can
change it or share it.

Never say or do anything online that you wouldn't ordinariy share
with parents, friends, teachers, or employers.

Keep online friends online. Never arrange to meet someone you've met
online without a trusted adult.

Don't open files from strangers—they could contain viruses or
inappropriate images.

Never respond to email or chat that makes you uncomfortable. Tell an
adult or your internet service provider about inappropriate internet
material or activity.
- Never respond to SPAM or junk email. Set up filters to block SPAM.
